L.A. County, Malibu accused of violating clean-water rules

Conservation groups on Monday sued Los Angeles County and the city of Malibu to force them to clean up the slurry of fecal bacteria, copper, lead, cyanide and other pollutants being washed down storm drains, creeks and rivers into coastal waters. |

Cowboys aim to put green in new stadium

If all goes as planned, the Dallas Cowboys' new stadium in Arlington will be the first NFL facility to join an exclusive, voluntary federal environmental program. The program, Performance Track, is offered by the Environmental Protection Agency. The program typically applies to applicants that are able to show a facility has a proven track record of "environmental excellence." |

City ponders charging for runoff water

Amarillo businesses and residents could be charged for the runoff water their firms and homes send into the city's storm-water drainage system. The proposed fee could generate an estimated $10 million each year for maintenance and construction of streets, alleys and other storm-water drainage infrastructure, city of Amarillo Assistant Public Works Director Van Hagan said Wednesday. |

Dallas TX - Located between the cities of Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas, DFW International Airport is the world's third busiest, serving 55 million passengers a year. Despite the slowdown of air travel after the terrorist attacks of September, 11 the airport is undergoing a five-year, $2.6 billion expansion that is due to be completed in the first quarter of 2005. The venture is so large that over 50 architectural and engineering firms are working on the project. |
